Flight Strip: Tasks
The Task Management feature allows you to increase accountability through checklists specific to your operation. New to the Flight Strip, in Q1 2025, the Tasks panel allows you to create custom tasks, ensuring that all necessary steps are documented.
Tasks Defined
Tasks are categorized in accordance with the actionable panels of the flight strip (i.e. aircraft, crew, airports, etc). There are three types of tasks:
- Default: Default tasks are configured in settings and apply to all flights.
- Template: Templates are recurring tasks that do not apply to all flights. They are saved in task panel and can be added to specific flights (i.e. tasks specific for international trips).
- Ad hoc: Ad hoc tasks created in the flight strip and are unique to the flight for which it is created.
Settings: Create Default and Template Tasks
Navigate to Settings – Dispatch - Flight Strip Defaults. Here you can create default and template tasks. Default tasks are marked as mandatory for flight. Template tasks are not mandatory and should be used for recurring tasks that do not apply to all flights (i.e. international, aircraft-specific, short field airports, etc).
- Click + Add Task and complete the following fields:
- Name of Task
- Task Description
- Section – Drop down list (DDL) – aircraft, airport, crew, pax/cargo, FBO, Transport, Hotac, Catering, Customs/Migration, Slot/PPR, Permits, FPL, W&B, Fuel, MVT, Post Flight, Other
- Mandatory for Flight - Selectable with a toggle. When true, this task will be created automatically on flights as a red/DO action. Tasks not marked as mandatory will act as templates that can be applied when needed.
- Dep/Arr - just like in the Flight Strip Defaults, this radio button icon establishes if a task is available for Departure, Arrival, or Both.
- Documents - Reference documents may be attached
The Flight Strip
In the Flight Strip, the Tasks Panel is located after Fuel and before Release. Color-coding status indicators within the Flight Strip denote whether tasks are open, in progress or completed, aligning with the existing system used in the Flight Strip panels.
The color-coding status indicators from the Tasks Panel will influence the overall color-coding status of the flight, except for the tasks available in the Post Flight Section.
Opening the panel, departure tasks will show on your left and arrival on your right. Collapsible titles of the task sections (i.e. aircraft, airport, crew, etc) will be visible along with the number of tasks per section (1/3 indicates one of three tasks are complete) and the status (DO, REQ, OK, NR). Opening each section with reveal the tasks. Completing all tasks as OK will collapse the section, which can be expanded by clicking on the arrow.
The default tasks that are mandatory for flights (created in settings) will be pre-populated. The name, description, and default file will be read only in the flight strip. Users can change the status, add notes, and add additional files. Documents added in the Task panel of the flight strip can be attached, removed, or replaced by users.
Adding Tasks in the Flight Strip
Here you can retrieve template tasks or create an ad-hoc task. Template tasks are those created in Settings – Flight Setup, but are not mandatory for all flights. For example, ad-hoc tasks may be aircraft specific, used for international flights or used for short field airports. After a task is added, its status will automatically be set to DO.
Ad-hoc tasks will exist only for the flight where it is added. If it is expected for this task to recur, it is recommended to create a template task. Click + Add Task in the departure (left) or arrival (right) section. A pop-up will appear to enter title, description, section, notes, and files. When complete, click the orange "Add Task" button to apply it to the flight.
